How can a day have both dread and possibility attached to its name? Monday simply has a bad reputation and is the brunt of bad jokes and even badder (I know…that’s not a word) Facebook graphics that get posted like clockwork.
Well, I challenge you to shift the paradigm (important sounding phrase I learned in college that makes people sound smart until they overuse it and start sounding silly) and restructure your Monday mentality. Resist the urge to follow peers and fall into the negative banter. Stop posting Bangle lyrics (now we’re all gonna have Manic Monday stuck in your heads)!
View this day as a new opportunity, a fresh start, a chance to set the tone for the entire week. Set a goal, make some plans, pick your weekly theme song (my song this week: Bowtie by Outkast), give yourself a weekly Monday manicure (my color this week: Merino Cool by Essie). You only get 4 of these magical days each month (or 5 if you’re lucky). Cherish each one.
Happy Monday! – Olivia
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.” – Jeremiah 29:11-12
