There comes a time in every project, relationship, business venture or life adventure that the urge to quit gets stronger than the will to push through. Giving up and throwing in the towel (or in some cases, crawling back in bed) appears to be the only viable option.
I’m at a place on a “project” where the finish lines seems miles away and my work feels in vain. My fire has been pissed on (get the visual…that’s how I feel) and I’m exhausted to say the very least. But just at the right time, a friend reminded me that quitting is for losers. It was more like winners never quite and quitters never win. Embrace the suck and find the source of your fight.
There’s a fight within all of us, a passion and drive for the things we believe in. This zeal carries us a mighty long way. But when the fire burns out as it surly will, we have a responsibility (to whom I’m not exactly sure…but it sounds good) to search for a match, borrow a lighter, find a stick or a stone…something that can cause a spark in us, reigniting the passion that continues to exist deep down inside.
So breathe, find something that will cause a fire and be encouraged!
“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and steady, always enthusiastic about the Lord’s work, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless (in vain).”
– I Corinthians 15:58
When things go wrong as they sometimes will.
When the rode Your trudging seems all up-hill.
When the funds are low and The debts are high.
When you want to smile, but have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
rest, if you must, but Don’t quit!!
Life is queer with its twist and turns,
as every one of us Sometime learn,
and many a fellow turns about,
when he might Have won had he stuck it out.
Don’t give up, though the pace Seems slow,
you may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
it seems to a paint and faltering man.
Often the struggler has given up
when might captures the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out,
in a silver tent, in a cloud of doubt.
When you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near, When it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that your mustn’t quit.
