Hello New Year! From my journal…
Miracles (in every shape and size) are truly around every corner. When something seemingly bad happens, my mind takes it to a whole other level of bad…horrible, horrific, life shattering. Life as I know it is over. Okay, not that dramatic, but pretty close. This flips my mood, my mindset, my actions and most detrimentally my faith. I’ve been conditioned by my past (hurt, abandonment, failures, letdowns) to think the worst of situations. I always know what’s about to happen because I’ve been there before. Been there, done that and have the scars to prove it! So I expect the worst. I mean the WORST! In business, in relationships, in finances…in life. And in my messed up mind, there is a method to my madness. You see, if I expect the absolute worst I’ll just be disappointed instead of devastated. There’s nothing worse than to hope for the best, expect the best and be let down so hard the wind gets knocked out of you. Pretty messed up right? Many of us think this way. To protect ourselves. To numb ourselves. But God!
Right when I know for sure and am completely convinced things are going to go a certain (bad) way, God flips the entire situation upside-down. He may wait until literally the last second, making me feel extra silly, but He comes through in a big way. This happened to me at least 4 times in the past week or so. I’m talking miraculous, magical, crazy stuff!
I look up and God looks down, as He always does, with a sneaky grin on His face and says “See what I did there?”
Yes I see.
Have faith! Don’t trip! My theme for the year? Maybe…
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toll is not in vain in the Lord.” – I Corinthians 15:58
